Antique Victorian Silver Malachite Ivy Leaf Brooches Rare Set of Three

An incredible set of 3 antique Victorian silver malachite ivy leaf brooches, rare to find in a graduated set.

These brooches are a fantastic example of Victorian fine jewellery, wearable today as a set or as individual pieces.

The gemstones are beautiful examples, with natural variations in the malachite creating a mis-matched effect. The stems are intricately designed with textured bark-effect detail.

The ivy leaf has a history of symbolic meanings and cultural importance. The image of ever-green ivy clinging to monuments and structures is striking, and its probably this that informed the Victorian reading to express loyalty, friendship, eternity and immortality life.

Ivy is commonly found in illuminated manuscripts and on Christian headstones, signifying an eternal devotion to God and the immortal life promised to believers.

This set would make wonderful additions to a collection of antique or Victorian jewellery, or an exceptional, sentimental antique gift.

There are no silver or maker's marks, but these brooches have been tested for silver.

In lovely antique condition. The middle-sized leaf has a small chip to one edge, and the larger leaf has a small knock. Please be sure to check out all the photos.

Each stem is formed as a sturdy loop, and these brooches could alternatively be worn as pendants hanging from a chain.
