A special antique sterling silver Charles II love token Fourpence coin pendant.

This early English coin is a true piece of history.

Bent coins, or 'crooked coins', are an early form of love token. It is said that a suitor might bend the coin into an S shape in front of the beloved as a display of strength and commitment, and to differentiate it from other loose change so that it would not be accidentally spent. This token coin would thus transform into a symbol of love.

This example, once a circulated coin used in the 17th Century, has also been pierced so as to be worn as a pendant or charm.

This would make a wonderful, sentimental gift for a charm bracelet, or make for an intersting pendant on a trace chain.

In nice antique condition, and left unpolished. Please be sure to see all of the photos.
