A stunning antique solid 18ct gold ring, set with a six diamonds in a milgrain daisy setting.

Antique 'sweetheart jewellery' such as this was often gifted by a man serving in the armed forces as a reminder to their loved ones back home of their devotion whilst they were away fighting. To this end, sweetheart jewellery commonly takes the form of a particular army regiment badge or insignia, in honour of the 'sweetheart' serving in it.

This is a particularly fine example with a nice level of detail, crafted in solid 18ct gold and with the embossed badge design set with diamonds.

The ring has the badge of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (KOYLI.) A twisted French hunting horn is complete with the White Rose of York (here, the diamonds,) to the centre, beneath a regal crown.

This ring is stamped for 18ct gold to the inside. The marks are worn.

We have dated this ring to the Edwardian era, c. 1910s.

In really nice antique condition. This ring has clearly been well looked after over the years. Please be sure to see all of the photos.

The badge measures approximately 1.5cm by 1.5cm.

This ring would make an exceptional addition to a collection, or it would still make a beautiful, sentimental jewellery gift, as it did when it was first created.
